FAQ

Q: Why sealcoat your asphalt pavement?
A: Sealcoating helps to protect pavement and extend the life of asphalt.

Q: How often should ashpalt be sealcoated?
A: Typically a residential driveway should be sealcoated every 2-3 years and commercial parking lots every 1-2 years.

Q:
When is the best time to have pavement sealed?
A: You can sealcoat in the spring, summer or fall as long as the temperature will remain above 50 degrees for 24 hours to ensure proper drying and adhesion.

Q:
Why does some sealer wear off so quickly?
A:
Sealer wears off of fresh patches more quickly than existing pavement due to materials in fresh asphalt.

Q:
How long do I have to stay off of the pavement after it is sealcoated?
A:
You should not drive on the pavement for 24 hours after being sealed.

Q:
How can I stop the marks and divots from forming?
A:
You can do this by not parking your car in the exact same spot every time offsetting your tires a few inches in either direction will help. Also whenever storing an item for a long period of time or using jacks it is best to put down plywood to prevent items sinking into asphalt.

Q:
Why does the edge of my driveway crack?
A:
The edge is the weakest part of the asphalt driveway, proper back-fill of top soil can slow this down.

Q:
Why do some patches come up so quickly?
A:
This is due to improper preparation and the lack of tack emulsion (asphalt glue). BSB Asphalt uses tack emulsion on every patch, this is especially helpful when your driveway or parking lot is snow plowed during the winter.

Q:
How long before you can drive over asphalt patches?
A:
Asphalt patches are able to be driven over right away.

Q:
Does BSB Asphalt use subcontractors?
A:
No, All work is performed by BSB Asphalt employees.
